The AJS E90 Porcupine earned its place in racing history when Les Graham rode one to the inaugural 500cc World Championship in 1949.
Its unusual 500cc parallel-twin engine had its cylinders laid almost horizontally, giving the British racer a distinctive low-slung profile. The exposed engine, intricate cooling fins and network of oil lines make it as fascinating to examine up close as it is to see as a complete machine.
This example was displayed by the Sammy Miller Museum, whose identification board records its restoration in the museum’s workshops.
